Tips For Resume Writing Style Guide

Tips For Resume Writing Style GuideMany people want to find a resume writing style guide but don't know where to look. There are many websites that offer help for writers. However, these sites do not provide a resume writing style guide. Instead, they offer help to writers on how to write their resume. There are various tips on the internet that can assist a writer in writing a successful resume. Some tips may be helpful but others are not.One major difference between a resume and a cover letter is the format. The format of a resume and cover letter should be very similar. If you do not follow this advice, you will find that your resume will be rejected by many employers.Another tip is to use a professional resume writing style. There are companies out there that have prepared templates for you to use. This does not mean that your resume will be rejected if you do not have one.A resume writing style is different from hiring a writing service to prepare your resume. These professionals can be expensive. They can also be more professional than you would be at your own expenses. You will find that your resume will not be accepted if it is submitted with spelling errors. The resume must be clean and free of any grammatical errors. Be sure to keep a record of your job experiences to prove that you have relevant work experience to demonstrate your abilities. You do not want a resume rejected because of a typographical error. To get more copies of your resume, you can ask for them to be mailed to you. You should not write down the cover letter or resume to be included on your application. These documents are important and you need to save copies of all three documents. Finally, you should not use the same resume for each company that you apply to. Employers will make sure that they read your resume when you get their call for an interview. You should know what is required on your resume. You should never send an empty resume.

The Real Deal with Women Today - Kathy Caprino

The Real Deal with Women Today As so much national research is revealing, women are sadder and sicker than ever before, and more so in midlife than in other times of their lives.     Here’s recent Huffington Post piece about the sad and shocking truth about women.   There’s speculation abounding about why, but no real answers.   Further, with men still being named the research experts on women (so irksome!), the headway is slow in uncovering the real truth.   Based on my seven years of research with thousands of women nationwide, there are seven hidden reasons why women are struggling deeply today, and failing to find success, health, joy, or purpose:   1)             An Ill-Fitted Career Model: The current competitive career model simply doesn’t fit women   2)             An Extreme Overload: The current gender roles don’t work â€" women are still doing the vast majority of domestic responsibility even when they work or are the primary breadwinners   3)             “Who can I look up to?”   There are very few female role models â€" from the past or present of successful, happy, powerful and healthy women who work and raise a family   4)             “I’m not supposed to!”   Women are culturally trained NOT to do the things required of them to lead happy, healthy, powerful lives (including: speaking up, feeling confident and powerful, displaying self-esteem and leadership, knowing what you want and having an intensive focus in getting it, putting yourself first, etc.)   5)             “What do I choose?” Women are paralyzed by all the options in front of them (children, work, domestic responsibilities, rising to high ranks, working out of the home or in, having their own business vs. corporate job, etc).   6)             “I’m ashamed.” â€" Women feel guilt and shame about where they are and what they feel today, and about pursuing steps that will help them gain power and self-actualization   7)             Women Are Tough on Women â€" Women are very hard on themselves and other women critical and punishing in their actions and beliefs especially to other women.   Why?   Because they’re struggling and have been for years, and people who are in pain and struggling are not generous and giving.   All of these obstacles hit women hard.   Men do not face these crises in the same ways.     Wake up world!!   Women are radically different from men and that’s a good thing!   They differ in their values, priorities, dreams, styles, visions, but they’re told somehow that  its not ok to be different.   Women are struggling hard, but ashamed of their differences, and continually hide or deny their suffering.   The time is now!   Let’s help women step up to what they truly want, to create a breakthrough in how they live and work.   For this to happen, women must accept who they are authentically, power up and step up to get what they want, and stop making excuses.   It’s time for women to give themselves permission to choose the life of their dreams, and get 3000% committed to having it!   Please reach out today (crisis is the perfect time to reinvent) if you need a breakthrough in your life.   Take advantage of my FREE 30-minute coaching strategy call to help you 1) gain clarity on what you want, 2) understand what’s holding you back, 3) create a powerful plan to achieve your goals.     Every day you don’t move toward breakthrough, is a day that’s stolen from your life.   What are you waiting for?

The Basics of Branding - Getting Memorable

The Basics of Branding - Getting Memorable There are a few things you can do to make your brand memorable and exciting. It can be more than easy to get a little bit lost in all of the information from bigger companies that have already made it. Often they will miss out the essential ingredients of what made them a success. Some of this will depend on if you are a solopreneur or you’re building a business that you intend to be the umbrella for many, some of it applies to anyone who is starting a business. So let’s tuck into the meat of the subject. Branding should show some personality, preferably your own, but it should be relatable in such a way that people respond emotionally to it. Great examples of how a simple branding decision can lead to being instantly recognizable are Innocent smoothies, and Tom Ford. Both have very clean fonts, simple colors, and straight away are associated with their products. Pick bold, solid colours. According to a study by the secretariat of the Seoul International Colour Expo, 92% of people think that the visual aspects of the brands are most important. And, no obvious factor is more important than the colour of the logo itself. Colours provoke specific emotional and mental responses to the point where tone can be a second language. Good examples are how red is associated with romance, passion and love ( think valentine’s day), white is connected with peace and purity. There is a long list which is really worth taking a look at depending on what you want your brand to say. Here are seven design tips to help you when it comes to your packaging choices and how the colour choice will impact that too. “Branding demands commitment; commitment to continual re-invention; striking chords with people to stir their emotions; and commitment to imagination. It is easy to be cynical about such things, much harder to be successful.” â€" Sir Richard Branson Use Social Media to reinforce your message and ethos continually. The utter beauty of social media is that usually the people using it are in a receptive and open mood. Meaning that if you approach them with a relaxed and friendly tone, the likely response is that the will click the link you have shared or share it with their own followers. Social means social, and although it is a robust platform for marketing, you shouldn’t approach it just as a marketing tool, it should be thought of more as a way to connect and communicate with your audience WITHOUT the continual force-feeding of adverts. Of course, this is actually a delicate balance of visuals, conversational content, easily shareable memes and curated content from other media sources. Once you have done all of that, then you can add more advertorial items. Aside from making sure you are catering well for your audience concerning engaging content, you need to check on which platform you are performing the best on. If you a highly visual brand with visual products, Instagram is going to be a strong point for you, and if it isn’t it is worth the time to make sure it is. If you are great at conversation, then Twitter will be your bag. Use Facebook primarily to drive traffic to your websites and other social media. Make it accessible to your audience. There is no point having a product ready to go, but charing too uch. Your audience needs to be able to afford your product, as well as know where to get it. You also need to convey that to them in the straplines, try and think of a tagline that is short, snappy and informative. Don’t think of it like just a product think of it as a lifestyle you are selling. The brand is something people buy into to belong to a particular class, group or ‘type’ of person. Consider how Ray Ban use the images of celebrities and influencers to promote who is wearing specific items, on their Instagram â€" to sell the high-flying lifestyle of Victoria Beckham, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. It is about how the product or service makes you feel, and what they say to others about you. Everything you send out will have your branding on it, so a few things to think about when it comes to your printed stuff. The stronger your contrasting colours, the more powerful your message will be. The trinity, use three colours are imprinted in peoples minds more efficiently and for longer.

Career Aptitude Test Find a Job That is the Best Fit for Your Personality

Career Aptitude Test Find a Job That is the Best Fit for Your PersonalityIf youre the schriftart of person who always knew what career you wanted to go into, and are astoundingly happy and secure in your career path, then you, my friend, are doing great. If youre not sure youve made the right career choices, or are feeling increasingly restless in your job, then you, my other friend, are in good company. Maybe you picked something that interested you right out of school, but have come to find that youre no longer so keen on the field. Maybe you picked your job or career because you thought it would be totally different. Whatever the case, you dont have to make your decisions (stay or go? What do I want to do?) blindly. There are a variety of tools available that measure your strengths and weaknesses such as career aptitude tests. googletag.cmd.push(function() googletag.display(div-gpt-ad-1467144145037-0) ) Youre welcome to find a zen distribution policy (beach, shady tree, lonely de sert) and think hard about what you want to do with your career. But if youre like the rest of us, you might need a little additional help to make the best choice. Chances are, you know yourself pretty wellbut there are tools that can help you figure out if your personality and approach are a good fit for your career path. And if not, where your strengths might lead you.Why Personality Matters in Your CareerIn the career world, data matters. Your skills matter. Your experience matters. Your references matter. What can get lost in this process sometimes is the real, complete you. Defining your professional qualities and actions on paper is pretty easy (wrangling them into bullet points and concrete examples, slightly less so). What doesnt necessarily come across in your resume is your personality, the sum total of your experience, outlook on life, sense of humor, values, and priorities. You may have mora of a chance to show other sides of yourself in an interview, but its still a ver y limited, controlled environment.Figuring out your personality and work style is mora of a personal thing. The better you know yourself and how you react to situations, the mora likely you are to seek out jobs and careers that match up with that. Its like trying on pants. You can like what you see on the rack, and assume that because theyre your size, theyll be fine. And maybe they will, but if you dont try them on first, or you run the risk of being happy with said pants when you get them home. On the other hand, if you know the brand of pants well, like the style, and confirm theyll look good on you before you buy, then youll probably be pretty happy with your pants. Career happiness is probably more important to you long-term than pants happiness, so it makes sense that youd want to apply at least as much care to your career choices as well.Personality also matters to your daily work life, even beyond the choice of a job. Its a major factor in your success and satisfaction on th e job. Are you a leader or more of a platoon member? Can you overcome major differences with colleagues or bosses to get things done? Are you a lone wolf that prefers hunkering down and getting things done over working with a team on a project? Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Do you prefer look at the big picture, or are the small details all you can see?Its important to understand how you interact at work, and what your comfort zones are. It can be good to push those comfort zones a little for the sake of personal and professional growth, but its best to be reasonable about it. If youre an introvert, a job where you have the spotlight on you just might not be very satisfying in the long term. You can change jobs, but changing your personality is just not very feasible. For more on personality and your career, check out this video via OTM EducationSo how do we figure out this baseline personality, and abflug making smarter career decisions? To the internetHow to Figure Out Your PathThe online world isnt just good for helping you figure out which Game of Thrones character you would beit also has more serious quizzes that you can use to help you figure out what your own real-life character is (youll still have plenty of time later to figure out whether youre a Lannister or a Stark).Online quizzes and surveys that go beyond Facebook memes can help you really drill down into your character and personality, and figure out where to go from there.Lets look at some of the top personality/career quizzes and assessments. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)The MBTI is a general personality assessment that is used broadly by professionals when it comes to evaluating new hires or qualifikation candidates. It assesses personal preferences, like motivation, how you process information, how you view the world, etc. The official test is $49.95, but there are also free versions kicking around as well. How to apply it to your career Sites like this one have already done so me of the leg work in figuring out what types of jobs match your Myers-Briggs personality type.TruityTruity builds on the Myers-Briggs type, and offers a TypeFinder assessment that also identifies your personal strengths. How to apply it to your career Truity recommends different job types based on your TypeFinder results. The official TypeFinder Personality test costs $29, but smaller subtests (including one to figure out your temperament) are free.PymetricsPymetrics uses games to help gauge your personality, strength, and weaknesses, and match you up with careers and companies looking for your type. Its not your average personality quizthe interactive mind games make it feel more like youre taking a break than taking a test. Its free to sign up and start playing the games. How to apply it to your career The site features a matchmaking-type option that lets you find companies that would fit well with your personality. Its non-binding, but it can give you more information about the ki nds of roles that might suit you.The Johnson-OConnor Career Aptitude TestThis one is a bit of a retraumatisierung to those aptitude tests you took in high school, which you then had to discuss with your guidance counselor in a meeting about Your Future. Its a pretty straightforward paper-and-pencil test that you can download and take. Also, this test is hosted on Oprahs website, and as far as careers go, Ms. Winfrey and her media empire are a pretty solid success story, wouldnt you say?How to apply it to your career The results on each individual test (there are five overall) show your strengths, and recommend general careers based on those strengths. The MAPP Career Assessment TestThis assessment is free to try, but costs $89.95 to get full results and reports. Its a 15-minute test where you choose one statement out of sets of three, and is billed by MAPP as the most comprehensive online career test. How to apply it to your career Upon completion of the test, the site promises to mat ch you to five different careers based on the results. This can help point you in a particular direction (or away from another). The O*Net Interest ProfilerThis one is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, and is more career-interest-oriented than personality-oriented.How to apply it to your career Based on your results, you can search the Department of Labors database for more information on your recommended career paths. You can also search based on experience, education, etc., meaning you can find jobs that will be a good fit for you based on where you are right now. What Happens Once You Know Your Personality?Once youve got a better sense of what your personality type is, you can start drilling down into what that means for your actual career. The intersection of personality and career is a pretty hot one right now, and theres a growing number of resources devoted to matching your job to your personality type. Many of the test sites above have direct resources for searching f or jobs that match you (rather than the other way around), but you can also just start looking up categories of jobs. via Business InsiderYou should also start looking at job descriptions for key words. If your strengths lie in teamwork, look for positions that call for collaboration. If youre still not sure what kind of job would be best for you, dive into a job search site like Indeed or Monster and start reading through different types of job descriptions, even if youre not immediately interested in the job itself. Remember in this exercise, the more information you have, the better.Personality insight is also helpful for things like networking. Knowing whether youre an introvert or an extrovert can help you find ways to approach new contacts in a way that suits your style (meet for coffee or email back and forth?).Also, personality tests arent just for people looking to jump ship to another jobknowing your strengths and comfort zones can help you modify your current job to be mo re comfortable. You can take this info and have a conversation with your boss about how to work more efficiently based on your personality, or how to re-prioritize in order to meet your goals better.Your long-term career happiness depends on a lot of things (job, salary, benefits, coworkers and bosses), but the most important thing is you. And the more info you have about yourself and your needs, the better prepared youll be to meet your goals and be satisfied with your career.
